Bananas

Saturday, September 6, 2008

After 63 years of not wanting to eat bananas with spots I finally bit the bullet and ate the banana on the left a couple of days ago. I was throwing out way too many bananas after their black and squishy days, not having time to bake bread. I still don't know the deal on mashing and freezing them, using them later in bread or something. Can someone enlighten me on that? So I ate it. Not great. Think I am still going to stick with the "no spots". I did cut out the dark spots on the inside. Baby steps.

We are waiting for Hanna to appear this evening. It started raining a while ago and every once in a while gets very windy but nothing horrific yet. Everything tells us that it will be around midnight or so that it will get bad for a few hours. Everyone has everything moved and tied down or put way, taking the forecasts pretty seriously.

OK. I have started on a new project in my life. I realize that I use about 20% of everything's potential. Computer, camera, iTouch, computer programs, everything like that. I started with financial and am pretty determined to get that under control. I have started inputting a lot of data into Quicken. I chose finances because for some reason I love to do number stuff. I think I was a CPA in a previous life. When Al and I lived in Syracuse I was able to take one class a semester free at the university because he was teaching. I think I took two, maybe three, accounting classes. There is something very satisfying about balancing the sheets at the end of the assignment and working so hard to make them balance.
Nick brought over pictures today that he and Janet had ordered to give to me. This many weeks later it is still fun to look at them and remember what a great day it was. And I still get teary-eyed. Their thank you also arrived today. Beautiful. Thanks, Mr. and Mrs. Paldino.
